We were first introduced to the Fusion dry suit 12 months ago when Andrew went diving with one of the development divers for the Canadian drysuit manufacturer Whites.
On this trip Andrew got to experience first hand this new innovation in drysuit technology.
Since then we have been patiently waiting for the suit to hit the market.
Now, Scubapro has acquired the international license for the “Dry Core” technology and has released the new Scubapro Fusion.
The exclusive hybrid suit is a cross-over of the tri-laminated style, providing ultimate protection against water entry, and the neoprene style, providing maximum comfort.
This unique combination is for incomparably comfortable dry suit diving.
The double layered system in made up of an internal dry core of tough 200d bi-laminate and an outer layer of soft 1mm standard and super stretch neoprene.
This gives the suit an unequaled level of flexibility for the diver, whilst maintaining a tough, durable outer.
Other advantages include a more streamlined effect in the water and the need for approx. 10% less air in the suit, resulting in the need for less weight.
The suit is designed to be worn with standard neoprene boots and an undergarment similar to that worn under a tri-laminate suit.
We have tested the suit in recent cool NZ waters and found the Fourth Element Arctic undersuit to be ideal, as this also reduced trapped air under the suit.
