As always the last Monday evening of every month at Global Dive shop here in Westhaven from 6pm onwards.

Dive club meetings are strictly social events - just a BBQ and a few drinks, and chance to chat to some fellow divers looking for dive buddies (or dive buddies with boats). Plus of course there's the monthly guest speaker to inspire you on to great things diving.

This month we have James from Pinnacle Ventures (Picasso, Tigulio, Apollo, Sherwood, etc) coming along to enlighten us on the finer points of spear fishing. Over the past 12 months we've had a lot of people ask about spear fishing both on and off scuba, so we thought it was about time we got an expert in.

As well as going through the skills involved (breath holding techniques, hunting tips, etc) James will also be talking about gear and some specials we'll have in store that night. We'll also arrange a date to get out on MV Global Dive and do some spearfishing on scuba and by freediving.

We're the first to admit we've been a bit slack with trips over the past few months. We've been a bit short staffed, but we are working on getting that fixed.

Poor Knights liveaboard trips

These trips are awesome value for money. Over the course of the weekend we do up to 7 dives.

Urupukapuka Island Diving Weekend – Bay of Islands

Over this weekend we will be doing 6 dives - Rainbow Warrior, Canterbury Wreck, Night Dive, Reef Dive. It is also a chance to do your Advanced Open Water course if you haven't already.

Price includes dives and 1 night shared accommodation. There will be a 8am pickup from Paihia Wharf on the Saturday morning (we suggest people drive up Friday Night). Car pooling may be available). We will probably stay in a backpackers Friday night so budget an extra $20 to $25.

We are operating a surveyed 8.5m rigid inflatable. There are hot drinks and snacks provided on the boat. There are hot showers available at the resort for after your dive, The Island has a licensed bar and restaurant, so you can purchase food, (lunch) from there if you want. Alternatively for dinner we can arrange the option of a BBQ pack – this consists of steak and sausages, 3 prepared salads, bread and condiments for you to cook at your own convenience for $25.00 per pack.
