Frequently asked questions

Before learning to dive or enrolling on any dive course, make sure that you can answer the following questions. Not all dive courses are created equal, and your learning experience will be greatly different depending on how you answer these questions!

Question 1: What equipment is supplied?

Most dive companies use the cheapest gear they can for their students and for rental gear, but not us. We only use the best - weight integrated BCDs, fully balanced regulators, dive computers - the works!

At Global Dive we believe you need to try before you buy, so we'll give you the chance to try a few different options while you do your course. After completing your course you will have a much better understanding of exactly what you would like to buy. Or perhaps you'll just be happy to rent equipment when you want to dive.

Question 2: How many people will be on my course?

We are not a "sausage factory". We do not train large anonymous groups.

Learning to dive is a personal and for many people a life changing experience. Our goal is to be a part in that and introduce you to the diving experience.

Question 3: What happens after I finish my course?

Some dive companies seem interested only in training as many students as possible, selling them gear, and saying goodbye.

We at Global Dive take a different approach - we want to introduce you to the "diving experience", and your learn to dive course is just the beginning of your diving adventure. How do we do that?

  1. Our active dive club is out and about most weekends to all sorts of exciting locations and diving experiences - wrecks, reefs and more.
  2. New Zealand has a lot to offer, but an overseas dive trip opens a whole new world! We run regular overseas group dive trips and can arrange diving holidays almost anywhere in the world.
  3. Advanced courses and specialty courses help you make the most of new experiences.
  4. And for those who think a career in diving sounds like the business, divemaster and instructor internships are the best way to learn. It's not just the course - we give you valuable hands on experience in working for a leading dive centre.
