Aldermen Islands

Aldermen Islands

Posted On: July 8, 2009

The Aldermen islands are almost unmapped territory due to the many pins ascending from the sea floor and lurking in the shallows making it hard for vessels to navigate. The most extensive map charted has been made by Jim Hope, the skipper of the MV Taranui. A lot of the mapping was thanks to sonar [...]

As we turned and anchored backed up to the little reef that you drop over into Matts Crack, I looked out over the side and suddenly forgot the need for gloves, scarf, beanie, and I’m instantly itching to get wet… it’s blue water! Yes the June weather is cool, well very cool, but the water [...]

Its a Girls Day Out! Boys might be allowed to come but only if there is space and they must wear a skirt and bikini top or bra – over their suits is fine. Our girls have organised a fabulous trip up to the Poor Knights Islands in association with the delightful Jo of Yukon [...]

PADI Open Water – 02/03 May 2009

Posted On: May 3, 2009

This weekend – despite the yucky weather which saw the Poor Knights liveaboard trip cancelled – we had some brave students, divemasters and instructors hit Lake Pupuke for a PADI Open Water course. Congratulations to the team who stuck it out on Saturday and were rewarded with beautiful weather on Sunday.
